Similan Islands National Park

by admin in Travel Destinations

the-similan-islandsThis park is a series of beautiful uninhabited jungle and granite islands in Thailand, with warm tropical nights, crystal blue waters and very easy to visit. But due to weather conditions, this park and the surrounding waters are closed from May 15th to November 1st each year. The island can be visited for on tour, overnight or for just one day. It is also home of the best scuba diving in Thailand and after your visit you might just agree with it being one of the best diving spots in the world. While the underwater world attracts divers, the long beaches and variety of birds and animals draw the land folk. Divers can watch garden eels swaying in the currents, until you get to close and they disappear into the sand.

This is an extremely photogenic location where many of the signature diving images are taken. Mantas and leopard sharks can be seen here along with blue spotted jewfish, Andaman sweet lips and ornate ghost pipefish. Since the tsunami, diving is now favored on the eastern coasts. Ko Huang, on the north side, is a good spot for snorkelers and divers as the reef runs along the island’s beach area.
